98-05 Volkswagen Beetle Golf Jetta Front Engine Sensor
OEM-style front engine sensor for carbureted and fuel-injected models across three generations. Direct replacement engineered to factory specifications for reliable cold-start and load sensing. Restores sensor accuracy without modification to existing engine bay routing.
Do I need to clear any fault codes before installing this sensor?
Clear the code with a scanner after installation so your ECU can relearn baseline readings. If the code returns immediately, the sensor may not be seated fully at the mounting point — pull it and reseat it firmly.
What tools do I need to swap this out?
Basic socket set and a sensor socket (usually 22mm). The sensor mounts at the factory location — no special jigs or alignment tools needed. Unplug the old one, unbolt it, and reverse for the new unit.
Can I reuse the wiring harness from my old sensor?
Yes. The connector is the same across all three generations in this range. Inspect the harness for cracks or corrosion before plugging in the new sensor — a corroded connector can cause intermittent readings and trigger a check-engine light.
