1955+ Chevrolet Small Block V8 Exhaust Header Gasket
Seal the gap between your headers and cylinder head without guessing. This gasket handles high-temperature exhaust pressure and resists blowout on small-block builds. Fits the classic generation that made headers a bolt-on essential.
Do I need to clean or prep the mounting surfaces before installation?
Yes. Clean the cylinder head surface and header flange with a scraper or wire brush to remove old gasket material and carbon. A clean surface ensures a proper seal and prevents blowout.
Will this gasket work if I'm reusing my original headers?
Absolutely. This gasket is designed for small-block V8 headers from 1955 onward. As long as your headers bolt to the factory cylinder head ports, this gasket seals the joint.
What hardware do I use to bolt the headers down?
Mounting hardware is not included. Use the fasteners that came with your headers, or source hardware rated for exhaust application—stainless steel or high-temp plated bolts are ideal. Refer to your header instructions for torque specs.
